where behind the screens?

In endless scrolls, the voices fade,
Countless stories left unmade.
Pixels flicker in narrow frames,
Diverse hearts play silent games.
Where behind the screens?
In algorithms, truths confined,
Real lives lost, their hopes maligned.
Yet still we dream of spaces free,
To share our tales, to simply be.
So, where behind the screens?
In shadows cast by glowing light,
We seek connection, day and night.
Amidst the noise, we yearn to find
The beating hearts we’ve left behind.
Rationale: My poem delves into the complexities of digital media and how individuals choose to represent themselves despite the diversity amongst each person. My goal with this poem is to highlight the contrast between virtual interactions and genuine human connections. It raises questions about the nature of online experiences and the emotional toll of living behind screens.
