A sunny day it was,
when I entered the ship,
there were no lights but
the sun was bright a
candle needn’t be lit.
When we left the pier,
the ship began to rock,
I sat on my bed reading a book
and then I heard a knock.
An old man stood there
with a huge grin, I
kindly invited him inside
as a whirlpool started to spin.
He pointed out the window and
put on a coat to keep warm,
then he turned and laughed and said
“‘Tis the calm before the storm”.
And he was right
oh he was right
as then the clouds went black,
then the boat moved backwards
but there was nothing pulling it back.
The boat battled with the waves,
as we moved along,
then there was a thunderclap,
it was as loud as a gong.
Then came the lightning,
painting the sky white,
and yet another lightning bolt
pierced through the night.
I laughed along with the man,
as we both kept in mind,
that the actual storm,
had finally arrived.
