In 1993, the Hong Kong government minted 10 dollar coins, with the intention of replacing it's banknotes counterpart. However they had a change of mind in 1997, when they stopped this process and reverted to produce 10 dollar banknotes instead after 2002. I love this coin, how it's bright silver satisfyingly swallows the dull bronze heart like the insides of an egg yolk. I never realised that those coins, albeit prominent in my childhood, were becoming extinct quickly. Ultimately, the coin is a metaphor for what is truly precious in our life, and no matter how dull, the memories will always shine brighter.
