Expressing one's deepest traumatic emotions — not hiding when you need help — is most quintessential step in healing. To navigate a sea of fake bliss onboard a sinking ship of suffering is the path not to the island of freedom but the depths of the sea floor. This piece, rendered in 3,750 emojis, depicts an unknown man physically releasing his emotional trauma as he wades through a literal sea of smileys. Perhaps this truth is what he needs the most.
