The Sand

From the crowd, all to hear are the high tides,

Strong waves crashing against the shore,

Covering everything beneath.

The sand crumbles underneath,

Succumbing to the high pressure,

Teared apart.

With cries and wails and tears of anguish,

With tugs and pulls,

And one final forceful rip.

Oh, high tides, why?

Through clashes and roars,

You destroy.

In anger and your wrath,

You bring down those around.

In greed and envy,

You snatch those goods and land.

’Till all are gone,

Calm, the tide finally lowers.

One moment, silence.

Swish, swish, swish,

The sand swiftly rises.

Another swish,

They look around.

The tide has disappeared,

They unite.

What was once despaired,

And was once and in vain,

Now flourishes with resilience.

There lays their stronghold,

The waves do no more.

The beach stills.
