A bus comes to a stop amidst the gloomy night,

The midnight sky engulfs the passive moonlight.

Street lamps gently flicker in the rain,

And the rain taps steady beats,

On the cobblestone streets.

I stand alone across the street, afraid of the rain between,

Once a dreamer of dreams, of things impossible as mortals deem.

But sorry I never leapt,

Too afraid of falling, of the rain, and I,

Chose the road most travelled by.

A path with shelter that is without pain,

Of warmth that shields me from the rain,

But I think of tomorrow when today simply repeats

I imagine dancing under this gentle moonlight,

A walking shadow singing in this quiet night.

A bus comes to a stop amidst the gloomy night,

It stops across the street, so close but not quite.

And I run, I dance, and I feel the rain on my skin,

I feel it’s texture, I hear it’s song, the melodies of freedom...

And I shall remember this moment, with a smile.
