Before the Moonlight Fades

See us in that silent night,

Sound and fury of the evening redness,

Following free as Death led us

To the void behind the bright light.

How dreary - a walking shadow -

With an idiot’s tale of sorrow,

Croaking our names - the livelong winter -

To an echoing hollow.

Let’s just dance a final time

Under the fading moonlight,

Before the toll of the morning chime,

And we become ashes in flight.
